Description: The complete Abraham Lincoln Papers at the Library of Congress consists of approximately 20,000 documents. The collection is organized into three "General Correspondence" series which include incoming and outgoing correspondence and enclosures, drafts of speeches, and notes and printed material. Most of the 20,000 items are from the 1850s through Lincoln's presidential years, 1860-65. In its online presentation, the Abraham Lincoln Papers comprises approximately 61,000 images and 10,000 transcriptions. This project is being supported by a generous gift from Donald G. Jones, Terri L. Jones, and the Jones Family Foundation. Digitized from microfilm, site is searchable by keyword and browsable by collection series.Offers selections from two collections at LC. The Emancipation Proclamation draft and accompanying documents are from the Robert Todd Lincoln Family Papers housed in the Manuscript Division. This collection of approx. 40,000 items contains correspondence and papers accumulated primarily during Lincoln's presidency. The selection of prints and broadsides about Lincoln's assassination, are from the Alfred Whital Stern Collection in the Rare Book and Special Collections Division. The Stern Collection contains over 10,500 books, pamphlets, broadsides, sheet music, autograph letters, prints, cartoons, maps, drawings, and other memorabilia that offer a unique view of Lincoln's life and times. In the future, Mr. Lincoln's Virtual Library will provide access to a variety of documents and resources about Abraham Lincoln.
